Identifying Deception in the Church: A Study of 2 Peter 2:1-3
The Subtle Art of Spiritual Infection
Key Marks of a False Teacher
Wrong Christology: Denying the Master who bought them, often by claiming His commands are outdated or that His Word is insufficient.
Sectarian Spirit: Creating factions and siphoning people away into exclusive groups.
Moral Compromise: Promoting a path of depravity and personal license that maligned the way of truth.
Exploitation and Greed: Using “made-up stories” to make merchandise of believers.
Standing Firm as the Remnant
In this Calvary Chapel teaching, we look at why numbers and influence do not always equal truth. We explore the doctrine of imminence and why it matters that Christ’s atonement was provided for all. Most importantly, we learn that our best defense is to stay submitted to the Holy Spirit and to escape the influence of those who would lead us away from the simplicity of the Gospel.
Join us as we continue our New Testament journey through 2 Peter, learning to walk in discernment, grace, and the strength that God provides to those who follow Him.
