2 Peter chapter 2 is the text for this sermon entitled, "Watch out for False Teachers."

Peter reminds us that there were false teachers in the past and that we can and should learn from that because there will be false teachers again. The secretly attempt to introduce destructive heresies and exploit the faithful.  However, the Lord knows how to:
a. to rescue the godly from trials, and 
b. hold the unrighteous for punishment.

Destructive heresies related to the Christian faith included untrue content (such as denying the sovereignty of the Lord) and ethics (corruption, abusive, carousing, adulterous, greedy). These false teachers have a terrible impact on the people they mislead, making them unstable and easy prey for evil, but also bring destruction on themselves since they will be paid back for the harm they have done.
