#2 – Private Weather Service in Canada with Weatherlogics

Listen Later

There are only a few private weather services in Canada and in this episode we talk to the co-founder of WeatherLogic’s, Scott Kehler, about operating a weather enterprise.  Learn why some people pay for weather services when there is so much free weather information available online and in the media.  Also join us for our regular segments; coast to coast, where we discuss weather events across Canada along with our weather tips of the week.
Introduction
General Discussion on recent weather events:
Environment Canada announces they are dropping email weather alerts starting tomorrow, May 30th. This was issued late last week “We would like to thank everyone for helping us evaluate Environment and Climate Change Canada’s weather alerts email (beta version) service. As of May 30th 2018, we will stop issuing weather alerts through this service as our testing period has come to an end. This service will cease as we are currently looking at more effective ways to disseminate our alerts.”
Thank goodness for Jason at WeatherServer.net who provides Googlegroups of emailed weather warnings for the public. Check out weatherserver.net
Subtropical Storm Alberto first named storm of the 2018 Hurricane season. Think this is a sign of what’s coming? The forecast isn’t for a busy year yet it’s starting early.
News that GOES-17 imager’s infrared sensors aren’t getting properly cooled. These sensors for taking images of hurricanes, wildfires, and volcanic eruptions to name a few.
Experts are scrambling to understand what went wrong and how to fix it. Officials expect it will take at least a few months to figure out.
