2 Samuel 18: La importancia y responsabilidad del líder espiritual.
2 Samuel 18:1-5 RVA2015:
“David pasó revista a la gente que estaba con él, y puso sobre ellos jefes de millares y jefes de centenas. Luego David envió a la gente: una tercera parte al mando de Joab, otra tercera parte al mando de Abisai, hijo de Sarvia y hermano de Joab, y la otra tercera parte al mando de Itai el geteo. Luego el rey dijo al pueblo: —Yo mismo iré también con ustedes. Pero el pueblo dijo: —No irás; porque si nosotros tenemos que huir, no harán caso de nosotros. Aunque muera la mitad de nosotros, no nos harán caso. Pero tú vales hoy tanto como diez mil de nosotros. Ahora pues, será mejor que nos des ayuda desde la ciudad. El rey les dijo: —Haré lo que les parezca bien. Entonces el rey se quedó de pie junto a la puerta mientras todo el pueblo salía de cien en cien y de mil en mil. Y el rey mandó a Joab, a Abisai y a Itai, diciendo: —Traten benignamente al joven Absalón, por consideración a mí. Y todo el pueblo escuchó cuando el rey dio orden a todos los jefes acerca de Absalón.”

Este es un episodio crucial en la vida de David, ya que su ejército se enfrentaría ante el único enemigo que se ha atrevido a destronar a David y que su líder es uno de los hijos más queridos de David. Es un contraste de emociones y nadie quisiera estar en el lugar de David.
David expresó su deseo de salir a la batalla con sus guerreros, pero ellos asumieron que sería muy peligroso, porque la meta de Absalón es matar a su padre para ganarse la autoridad suprema ante el pueblo. Es por eso que los guerreros no permitieron que el rey saliera a exponer su vida, más bien lo animaron a esconderse para que ellos pudieran estar más tranquilos para poder enfocarse en la batalla contra Absalón sin preocupaciones. Ellos sabían claramente lo que David representaba para sus seguidores, David era la luz de esperanza de que pronto todo volvería a la normalidad y los exiliados pudieran regresar a sus casas con su rey a salvo. Imagínese el caos que seguiría después de la muerte de David, muchos morirían o serían despojados de sus tierras por el solo hecho de haber apoyado a David.
De la misma forma, los padres deben cuidar mucho su relación con Dios, y no permitir que el enemigo los derrote con una tentación. Muchas familias se pierden porque los líderes de su hogar fueron derrotados en un momento de descuido, cuando confiaron en su propia opinión y pensaron que nunca iban a caer ni alejarse del Señor, pero su exceso de confianza y la negligencia en su vida espiritual hizo que fueran emboscados por las fuerzas del enemigo y cayeron en sus trampas. Es común que muchos hijos que iban antes a la iglesia con sus padres, se alejen al ver a uno o ambos en una condición de derrota, y los hijos siendo afectados en su fe.
Igualmente debemos cuidar y orar por nuestro líder espiritual que es nuestro pastor. Debemos cubrirlo en oración, pidiendo la protección del Señor por su vida y la de su familia. El adversario sabe que una congregación puede ser dañada grandemente cuando el pastor es herido, como dijo el Señor Jesucristo y está registrado en Mateo 26:31: "Entonces Jesús les dijo: —Todos ustedes se escandalizarán de mí esta noche, porque está escrito: Heriré al Pastor, y las ovejas del rebaño serán dispersadas."
Aun el apóstol Pablo pidió constantemente oración porque el adversario muchas veces se interponía en los planes del ministerio de Pablo. Esto lo comenta en 1 Tesalonicenses 2:18: ”... por lo cual quisimos ir a vosotros, yo Pablo ciertamente una y otra vez; pero Satanás nos estorbó.” (Versión: RVR1960).
Colosenses 4:3: “A la vez, oren también por nosotros a fin de que el Señor nos abra una puerta para la palabra para comunicar el misterio de Cristo, por lo cual estoy aún preso.” (Versión: RVA2015).
Así que, como hijos, oremos por nuestros padres. Padres, tengamos presente que nuestras vidas son como luz para nuestros hijos y que si se apaga esa luz, ellos quedarán en tinieblas. Y como creyentes, no dejemos de orar y proteger a nuestros líderes, a nuestros pastores que nos guían con la Palabra de Dios.

And David numbered the people who were with him, and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them. Then David sent out one third of the people under the hand of Joab, one third under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and one third under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said to the people, “I also will surely go out with you myself.” But the people answered, “You shall not go out! For if we flee away, they will not care about us; nor if half of us die, will they care about us. But you are worth ten thousand of us now. For you are now more help to us in the city.”
Then the king said to them, “Whatever seems best to you I will do.” So the king stood beside the gate, and all the people went out by hundreds and by thousands. Now the king had commanded Joab, Abishai, and Ittai, saying, “Deal gently for my sake with the young man Absalom.” And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains orders concerning Absalom.

This is a pivotal episode in David's life, as his army would face the only enemy that has dared to dethrone David, and their leader is one of David's most beloved sons. It is a contrast of emotions and no one would want to be in David's place.
David expressed his desire to go out into battle with his warriors, but they assumed that it would be very dangerous, because Absalom's goal is to kill his father in order to gain supreme authority before the people. That is why the warriors did not allow the king to come out and risk his life, rather they encouraged him to hide so that they could be calmer so they could focus on the battle against Absalom without worries. They clearly knew what David represented for his followers, David was the beacon of hope that soon everything would return to normal and the exiles could return to their homes with their king safely. Imagine the chaos that would ensue after David's death, many would die or be dispossessed of their land simply for having supported David.
In the same way, parents must take great care of their relationship with God, and not allow the enemy to defeat with a temptation Many families are lost because the leaders of their home were defeated in a careless moment, when they trusted their own opinion and thought that they would never fall away from the Lord, but their overconfidence and negligence in their spiritual life caused them to lose their lives. They were ambushed by the enemy forces and fell into their traps. It is common for many children who used to go to church with their parents, to walk away seeing one or both in a defeated condition, and the children being affected in their faith.
We must also care and pray for our spiritual leader who is our pastor. We must cover him in prayer, asking for the Lord's protection for his life and that of his family. The adversary knows that a congregation can be greatly damaged when the pastor is hurt, as the Lord Jesus Christ said and it is recorded in Matthew 26:31: “Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered’.”
Even the apostle Paul constantly asked for prayer because the adversary often got in the way of Paul's ministry plans. This is commented on in 1 Thessalonians 2:18: "Therefore we wanted to come to you—even I, Paul, time and again—but Satan hindered us.”
Colossians 4:3: “... meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,...”
So, as children, let us pray for our parents. Parents, let us keep in mind that our lives are like light for our children and that if that light goes out, they will be left in darkness. And as believers, let us not stop praying and protecting our leaders, our pastors who guide us with the Word of God.

Es por eso que los guerreros no permitieron que el rey saliera a exponer su vida, más bien lo animaron a esconderse para que ellos pudieran estar más tranquilos para poder enfocarse en la batalla contra Absalón sin preocupaciones. Ellos sabían claramente lo que David representaba para sus seguidores, David era la luz de esperanza de que pronto todo volvería a la normalidad y los exiliados pudieran regresar a sus casas con su rey a salvo. Imagínese el caos que seguiría después de la muerte de David, muchos morirían o serían despojados de sus tierras por el solo hecho de haber apoyado a David.
De la misma forma, los padres deben cuidar mucho su relación con Dios, y no permitir que el enemigo los derrote con una tentación. Muchas familias se pierden porque los líderes de su hogar fueron derrotados en un momento de descuido, cuando confiaron en su propia opinión y pensaron que nunca iban a caer ni alejarse del Señor, pero su exceso de confianza y la negligencia en su vida espiritual hizo que fueran emboscados por las fuerzas del enemigo y cayeron en sus trampas. Es común que muchos hijos que iban antes a la iglesia con sus padres, se alejen al ver a uno o ambos en una condición de derrota, y los hijos siendo afectados en su fe.
Igualmente debemos cuidar y orar por nuestro líder espiritual que es nuestro pastor. Debemos cubrirlo en oración, pidiendo la protección del Señor por su vida y la de su familia. El adversario sabe que una congregación puede ser dañada grandemente cuando el pastor es herido, como dijo el Señor Jesucristo y está registrado en Mateo 26:31: "Entonces Jesús les dijo: —Todos ustedes se escandalizarán de mí esta noche, porque está escrito: Heriré al Pastor, y las ovejas del rebaño serán dispersadas."
Aun el apóstol Pablo pidió constantemente oración porque el adversario muchas veces se interponía en los planes del ministerio de Pablo. Esto lo comenta en 1 Tesalonicenses 2:18: ”... por lo cual quisimos ir a vosotros, yo Pablo ciertamente una y otra vez; pero Satanás nos estorbó.” (Versión: RVR1960).
Colosenses 4:3: “A la vez, oren también por nosotros a fin de que el Señor nos abra una puerta para la palabra para comunicar el misterio de Cristo, por lo cual estoy aún preso.” (Versión: RVA2015).
Así que, como hijos, oremos por nuestros padres. Padres, tengamos presente que nuestras vidas son como luz para nuestros hijos y que si se apaga esa luz, ellos quedarán en tinieblas. Y como creyentes, no dejemos de orar y proteger a nuestros líderes, a nuestros pastores que nos guían con la Palabra de Dios.

2 Samuel 18: The importance and responsibility of the spiritual leader.
2 Samuel 18:1-5:
And David numbered the people who were with him, and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them. Then David sent out one third of the people under the hand of Joab, one third under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and one third under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said to the people, “I also will surely go out with you myself.” But the people answered, “You shall not go out! For if we flee away, they will not care about us; nor if half of us die, will they care about us. But you are worth ten thousand of us now. For you are now more help to us in the city.”
Then the king said to them, “Whatever seems best to you I will do.” So the king stood beside the gate, and all the people went out by hundreds and by thousands. Now the king had commanded Joab, Abishai, and Ittai, saying, “Deal gently for my sake with the young man Absalom.” And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains orders concerning Absalom.

This is a pivotal episode in David's life, as his army would face the only enemy that has dared to dethrone David, and their leader is one of David's most beloved sons. It is a contrast of emotions and no one would want to be in David's place.
David expressed his desire to go out into battle with his warriors, but they assumed that it would be very dangerous, because Absalom's goal is to kill his father in order to gain supreme authority before the people. That is why the warriors did not allow the king to come out and risk his life, rather they encouraged him to hide so that they could be calmer so they could focus on the battle against Absalom without worries. They clearly knew what David represented for his followers, David was the beacon of hope that soon everything would return to normal and the exiles could return to their homes with their king safely. Imagine the chaos that would ensue after David's death, many would die or be dispossessed of their land simply for having supported David.
In the same way, parents must take great care of their relationship with God, and not allow the enemy to defeat with a temptation Many families are lost because the leaders of their home were defeated in a careless moment, when they trusted their own opinion and thought that they would never fall away from the Lord, but their overconfidence and negligence in their spiritual life caused them to lose their lives. They were ambushed by the enemy forces and fell into their traps. It is common for many children who used to go to church with their parents, to walk away seeing one or both in a defeated condition, and the children being affected in their faith.
We must also care and pray for our spiritual leader who is our pastor. We must cover him in prayer, asking for the Lord's protection for his life and that of his family. The adversary knows that a congregation can be greatly damaged when the pastor is hurt, as the Lord Jesus Christ said and it is recorded in Matthew 26:31: “Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered’.”
Even the apostle Paul constantly asked for prayer because the adversary often got in the way of Paul's ministry plans. This is commented on in 1 Thessalonians 2:18: "Therefore we wanted to come to you—even I, Paul, time and again—but Satan hindered us.”
Colossians 4:3: “... meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,...”
So, as children, let us pray for our parents. Parents, let us keep in mind that our lives are like light for our children and that if that light goes out, they will be left in darkness. And as believers, let us not stop praying and protecting our leaders, our pastors who guide us with the Word of God.
