He was born in 354 AD in Numidia [back then in the Roman Empire], now Souk Ahras in Algeria — he died, 430 in Hippo Regius [present-day Annaba, Algeria]. He was the bishop of Hippo 396-430 and one of the most significant Christian thinkers ever. If you’re Christian [of any branch], you should know this guy. I put him up there with St. Paul, John Chrysostom, Emperor Constantine, and perhaps Jesus [!!!] in terms of actual influence shaping Christian thought, practice, and dogma;
