This chapter prepares Timothy for fearful persecution occurring in Ephesus due to 2 things- false teaching and Nero’s wicked tactics against the church. Timothy had to be prepared by Paul to endure the church through these brutal attacks. Everyone thought Nero was so wicked that he must be the antichrist. Paul proved that was not true.
