False teachers want to change the meaning of the gospel, but they don’t just want to change the Gospels, meaning for us, they want to change how the gospel applies to everyone in general. This is why Paul says that false teachers depart from the truth and despise authority.

What happens in the church has a ripple effect that affects the world.

If the church loses its ability to accurately communicate the gospel, then many people will be left without hope of salvation.
