Up until this point in the book of John, the disciples had been learning to depend on Jesus. Jesus Himself was discipling them and walking every day with them. Wouldn’t that be amazing! But what if I told you we have the same opportunity available to us today to have God personally disciple and walk daily with us?

You see, Jesus wasn’t going to stay physically with the disciples for very much longer, so he reveals in our passage this weekend how the Holy Spirit will soon arrive to help His disciples walk in faithful obedience. The Holy Spirit is not only instrumental in bringing us to saving faith in Jesus, but you and I need to continue in complete, daily dependence on Him. We need the Spirit in order to grow in our knowledge of God and of scripture and to obtain the ability to know and walk in obedience to His will. Let’s learn to live powerful, Spirit-led lives!
