Katie Asmus MA, LPC, BMP, describes her work as “bringing forth the innate wisdom within every-BODY, and opening people’s mind’s and heart’s to greater possibilities.” Founder of Namaste Healing Arts and Somatic Wilderness Therapy Institute, Katie practices as a Somatic, Nature-based & Adventure psychotherapist, life coach, educator, mentor, quest guide and workshop facilitator. In addition to leading educational and therapeutic Wilderness programs for the past 28 years, Katie focused her graduate thesis on body-centered interventions for working with trauma. She has presented internationally in these fields of study for the past 18 years. Currently, Katie trains counselors in advanced EMDR therapy skills, Wilderness/Adventure therapy, Rites of Passage and Somatic Trauma work. She teaches graduate students at Naropa University and Prescott College, has a private counseling and coaching practice, leads Rites of Passage programs and trainings, and has published articles on the topics of trauma, ceremony & Ritual, and the use of Conscious Choice in wilderness work. Katie is an avid learner, creator, manifestor and lover of life! She is constantly in awe of the strength of the human spirit and the inherent wisdom of our body-minds.
