#20: Exploring Perinatal Mental Health with Ursula Tumelty

Listen Later

Join me as I speak with Ursula Tumelty, the Clinical Lead in the Perinatal Mental Health Team at Southern Trust. Ursula brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in perinatal mental health services for women.

In this episode, she emphasises the importance of reaching out for support and encourages those experiencing challenges before, during, or after pregnancy to talk about their feelings. Tune in for an insightful discussion on the vital resources available and the power of seeking help.

As a mental health nurse by profession, Ursula has been instrumental in implementing and leading the development of the perinatal mental health service to meet the needs of women requiring care. Her extensive experience spans dementia care, acute care, crisis intervention, rehabilitation, and now perinatal mental health.

Additionally, she works as part of the multi-agency triage team (MATT) providing crisis support to people calling emergency services.

Ursula also serves on the board of Suicide Down to Zero in South Down. Outside of her professional life, she is a keen open water swimmer and a triathlon completer. Not only is she an incredible friend to me, but she is the most wonderful human being. We need more people like you.

Thank you, Ursula, for taking the time to speak with us and sharing your invaluable insights.
