When Chuan Tsay told his mom he was starting a coffee shop, she was devastated - because she'd been there before and seen the toll the restaurant industry takes. But for Chuan and his wife Anna Phommavong, they wanted to "create something that completes our parents' journeys or at least takes it one step further because when they were doing this, it was at a time and place in which they weren't as respected for their identities as much as we have been in our time and place and time."
