#20 Pt 1 - “I Throw Myself In To Get Through it”: Anxiety, Photography & Individual Change/Community With Erin
This week, Mike talks with Erin, a photographer he’s known since college and although photography is where the discussion begins, it delves far deeper than anticipated!
After discussing what Erin loves about taking photos and what started her intrigue, they then talk about Erin’s trips to France and her new love of snowboarding, followed by a look into anxiety & depression. Through talking about such mental illnesses, the conversation gets onto a wide variety of topics including parenting & childhood, community & individual change and how the two are necessary for the progression of society, as well as gene memory, the stigmas of mental illness & the shame one can feel admitting such things and much more!
Part 2 is out next week where they explore ideas surrounding the homelessness crisis, social media and its connection to mental illnesses, support networks, how people don’t seem to compliment one-another anymore, why babies die without proper physical contact, giving back to the community, marketing & design and what they’d do with £1 million, so be sure to tune in then for the rest of this great & important chat.
Last week was part 2 of Mike’s chat with his Polish friend Justyna, where in part 1 & 2 they talk about some of the differences between Polish & English culture, why Justyna came from Poland to England, multi-culturalism of Britain & Europe, as well as the political system, speaking other languages, coffee & tea (as Justyna is a massive tea-drinker), as well as religion and how it affects government, being patriotic to your country, being tolerant of others, drug reform and more, so be sure to check both parts of episode 19 out!
