Hani Abdile is an award winning poet whose performances have been featured on TV numerous times, including an appearance just recently on ABC's Q+A. Her story is one that is shared by millions of people around the world unfortunately, one of being forced to make the impossible decision to leave the only home she'd ever known for a chance of freedom and safety. The risks she took in her search still surprise even her. She was lucky, but Somalia is still at war, she is still a refugee, and she is never going to turn her back on what that meant. She is grateful, determined and, as cheesy as it is to say, fucking inspirational.
