Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation strives to obtain inalienable dignity for every individual for their entire menstrual cycle, from the womb to the tomb.
An international collective of diverse organizations and individuals from across the globe, the coalition unites to transform the menstruation movement to center dignity as the mechanism of dismantling the misogynistic and patriarchal structural, institutional, and interpersonal beliefs and behaviors that discriminate against menstruators.
Dignified Menstruation envisions a world free from any forms of abuse, discrimination, and violence associated with menstruation. According to the coalition, "every menstruator deserves freedom from the shame and taboo around menses, removal of all menstrual restrictions, access to sustainable safe menstrual products, clean water and hygiene, high quality sexual and reproductive health services, and body literacy so that we can live a dignified life in these beautiful, powerful, and diverse bodies."
Our speaker is Mili Adhikari, a Public Health Practitioner based in California who is also a second year medical student.
Outside the classroom she is a menstrual and sexual health awareness educator, and birth worker, mostly as the director for Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation North America chapter.
She aspires to work in family medicine and as an OBGYN, with her life work to achieve menstrual and gender equity through frameworks of Dignified Menstruation, reproductive justice, and body literacy utilizing education, awareness, activism, healing, and community organizing.
