Dan has been in recovery for more than 20 years, he has been in six rehabs and countless detoxes. Today, after nearly dying 18 months ago, Dan is clean and sober. His story is like many others, however, the journey is quite different.
Dan is 55 years old and is married to a recovering addict and alcoholic who also suffers from mental health issues.
It is imperative that “we” as a country begin to change the long-standing stigma of addiction. Many (most) people think of homeless people or those who come from horrible beginnings as addicts. I have been an executive in numerous white-collar companies and now run a successful business.
Tune in to listen to Dan share his story but, more importantly, discuss his own journey and offer hope to those who are feeling hopeless and helpless.
As Dan likes to say, “The only time you look down on someone is when you are giving them a hand up (not a handout).”
