The Birthchart Introduction

On the following pages you will find an in-depth look at your own individual character and life. At birth the chart represents a set of potentials, with the contents being added through the experiences of life. As this birth chart represents a map of the solar system for the time and place of your birth...it's a blueprint of your personality - unique to you and only you.

Most people are aware of the Sun sign that they were born under, that is, the sign read in a magazine or newspaper relevant to a birthday. However, it's not only the Sun sign that exerts a powerful influence over a birth chart and character. The Moon, the planets, their aspects, zodiac and house positions also play an important role.

But one of the strongest influences of all will be that exerted by the rising sign, also known as the Ascendant. The ascending sign shows the way in which you approach life and helps to shape your self image, general outlook, childhood and to some degree... your health. It also suggests the way in which you are seen by others, or at least their first impressions of you.

As you read through this analysis, you will occasionally notice that contradictory information may be given. This is to be expected, as each individual's character is extremely complex. For example, at times we can be aggressive and confident, and at other times withdrawn and moody. And if planetary patterns seem to be repeated time and time again, that's because the analysis is focusing on a particular and very important strength or weakness within your character.

Personal Interpretation

Ascendant
The ascendant is the beginning of the first house and represents the area of life concerned with our sense of self-identity.

• Sagittarius Ascendant

Possessing the courage of your convictions, other people's opinions won't matter. Believing in yourself, you tend to attract good fortune and unusual opportunities. Ambitions are geared to large scale goals but beware the tendency to take things for granted and assume that everything will go your way.

• Ascendant Opposition Sun

The Sun opposite your ascendant, shows that you have a need to seek approval from others in order to feel good about yourself. The Sun is our self, what we essentially are, with the Sun on the 7th house cusp you need constant feedback from the world in order to feel that you are alright in the eyes of others, and so maintain your self confidence and sense of self worth. You may tend to look up to and admire people who are really no better than yourself, you find it difficult to admire and respect yourself, so you project this on to other people. As a result of this, you may attract people with strong egos who attempt to dominate or control you. You need to be yourself and do your own thing, whatever other people may think you have to live your life for yourself as well as for them.

• Ascendant Trine Mars

The trine between Mars and your Ascendant indicates that you have a great deal of physical energy and drive. You can assert yourself aggressively when the need arises, challenges and competition stimulate you and rouse you into action. While this aspect gives you the stamina and energy to achieve your goals, it does not, of itself, provide the motivation or incentive to do so. As a result, a lot of energy can be wasted in useless activity if you cannot find some purpose or direction in your life. You have strong opinions which you are not afraid to express, but there is a tendency to take over and dominate in conversation.

The Sun
The Sun is your essential self, the centre of your being. It indicates what you are striving to become as an individual.

*Sun In Gemini

With the Sun in the air sign of Gemini, you're usually on the go, and have a natural ability to do two or more things at once. You're forever being accused of being two-faced and having a split persona
