Howie Promises to Never Lie to Me
Driving to Chuck’s house for his surprise 36th birthday party, I was talking about Don’s indiscretions that I learned about after his disappearance. I told Howie that I could accept his wandering, because some men are just wired that way, but that I hated being lied to. I know that Howie would not lie to me, but didn’t know if not telling me if I didn’t ask, would be his way of being kind, so I told him that he was free to do whatever he wanted, but that I would ask him to let me know. As much as I hate the idea of sharing him with another woman, I meant it.
He said that is nothing I would ever have to worry about. He said that there was no woman in the world that he ever wanted to be with, but me. He said that even though he has never been in a situation where he was expected to be committed that he has never been that way and couldn’t imagine why men do. He reasoned that some men may just have some overwhelming need for variety, but that he didn’t. Tears came to my eyes as I thanked him for being the wonderful man that he is. I am so happy and so fortunate!
I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views. If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story. The titles are the dates things happened. I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story. My hope is that others will recognize themselves in my words and have the strength to do what is right for themselves and our shared planet.
