Jamie and Daniel returned from a week in the cabin

They brought us a big iron hanging of a romantic looking woman.  As soon as Howie walked away, Jamie pulled me into a corner and shyly held out her left hand.  On her ring finger was perched a tiny but oh-so-typically-understated-Jamie  engagement ring.

 

I was in shock and didn’t know quite what to say.  She and Daniel Capiro have been together for 6 years but she had never wanted to get married.  When I asked if they had set a date, Jamie said that they might go to New Zealand for a vacation to celebrate their commitment, but that they didn’t need formal contracts to keep them together.  I thought Daniel answered with remarkable insight, “When you tell someone you want to be with her forever, it doesn’t matter when.” 

 

I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views.  If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story.  The titles are the dates things happened. I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story.  My hope is that others will recognize themselves in my words and have the strength to do what is right for themselves and our shared planet.
