I’m glad to have such a great support group and especially thankful that my mother does right now.

 

I just texted Mom to see if she wanted to walk.  She usually doesn’t on Wednesdays, but I thought she may want to today from being so keyed up.  She replied that she’s had a house full today, including her sister and her husband, Ron, who my dad hates, Carolyn Linville, a friend of hers from WVA, Emily Stairs, a nurse friend of hers and a home health nurse for Dad.  I’m sure Dad is hating every bit of that.

 

I appreciate that Gale is always happy to jump in and do what is necessary.  We’ve had two keepers reach into one of the tiger cages to get at poo and their excuse was that it rolled away from the fence, so today Gale piled up dirt inside the cage wall to prevent that.  I helped a little but she had already done most of the work before I found her at it.

 

I love that we are changing hearts and minds.  Sometimes I worry, when I see one of our interns who has photos on their social sites from a couple years ago, of them petting cubs.  It makes me wonder if they are spies here to harm the cats or if they are just stupid.  I don’t know how anyone can know the horrors of cub handling and not want every trace of that removed from their lives.
