I attended the little worship group that Chuck attends today, except Chuck was off camping and hiking with Mark McCray. I am glad there are people who are thinking about how ritualized the church has become and are moving back to the roots.
My mother wanted to go to church in S. Tampa with Katie. She didn’t seem to want me to come; but maybe it was because she thought it would be too far for me to drive. I guess she’s wanting to do the grandmother thing and I have no desire to spend any time next to a baby. Katie’s got another one on the way. I used to really love family dinner together, but now there are so many babies that I don’t want to be there.
I’m glad Jamie doesn’t worry about my feelings the same way I worry about Mom’s. I don’t believe the Bible. I think it portrays God as petty and jealous and that’s not the God I know and commune with all the time. My mother is so fearful I’ll die and go to Hell that I go to church so she can sleep at night.
Jamie decided about 20 years ago that she wasn’t going any more. It scares her grandmother, but I’m proud of her for following her own heart.
