Yes, I am up early.
The only thing I can attribute that to is that last night we celebrated New Year’s eve, a day late, with a lot of champagne. What is most ironic is that my New Year’s Resolution is to be more kind to myself. In my world that means taking time to eat right, meditate, exercise and give myself time to rejuvenate.
But, I was working too hard over New Year’s Eve to even have a glass of bubbly. Sheesh!
Anyway, got the celebrating done last night and had a very good night’s sleep. I only recall waking for very brief hot flashes and then going right back to sleep. I woke up feeling ready to seize the day.
Another habit I wish to maintain (as I’ve faltered from it over past weeks) is to write down three things I’m thankful for.
Autocorrect is something I am hugely thankful for because this book wouldn’t be worth reading, if not for it.
I appreciate Devin Saari, our intern turned Green Level volunteer. He has stuck out to me because he’s a boy and we almost never have male volunteers. When JJ lead a faux fur photo shoot at my house and I let all the interns dress up in my prints for a promotion that Panthera? was doing, he and Martin were the only two boys I remember getting all dressed up in drag for the cause.
Yesterday he told me about Snapchat Spectacles and showed his pair to me. I know we need to embrace Snapchat, mostly because anything that feels so awkward and foreign to me, the tech maven, has to be cutting edge. I took him to lunch in exchange for a half hour tutorial in using the silly thing. Things are about to get pretty “Snappy”!
I spent the rest of yesterday working on the 2016 Annual Report and got about 90% of it done. That may be a record.
Hi, I’m Carole Baskin and I’ve been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views. If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story. The titles are the dates things happened. If you have any interest in who I really am please start at the beginning of this playlist: http://savethecats.org/
I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story. My hope is that others will recognize themselves in my words and have the strength to do what is right for themselves and our shared planet.
