Redi speaks to Jessye Lapenn, Charge d'Affairs at the United States Mission to South Africa, about the 2017 Mandela Washington Fellowship. Producer Litha Mpondwana, a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellow, also shares his experiences of the fellowship. This fellowship is the flagship programme of the Young African Leaders Initiative (Yali), and will see 1000 young leaders from sub-Saharan Africa spend six week in academic and leadership institutes in the United States.
