I enjoyed teasing him. He was so nervous and timid toward life. My life was full of danger. Going into abandoned homes, in horrible neighborhoods, never knowing what I’d encounter. He’d come inside if I led the way. One day we broke (mind you, my rule was never break anything to get in) into a house that was about as creepy as the house on the hill behind the Bates Motel. There was a big hole in the brick face of the fireplace. I’d gone into the room and looked in the hole before he walked in, so I knew there was nothing in there. I turned to Bill and said, “I think I heard something in there!” and thrust my arm into the hole. I began screaming and thrashing as if grabbed by some monster, acting as if it were pulling me into the hole.
All the while I’m watching the color just drain from Bill’s terrified face. He’s frozen for a time before finally lurching forward to help pull me back from the abyss. I thought I’d die laughing.
My intention this morning was to recap some of our escapades into the approximate dates they happened, but I keep looking over at the other tab on my computer to see the bald fat guy smiling back at me from his obit page. He’s completely bald but has grown a mustache and goatee, and he’s dressed like a biker, which is totally out of character for him, but I’m pretty sure that’s his smile and his eyes.
Hi, I’m Carole Baskin and I’ve been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views. These are my views and opinions. If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story. The titles are the dates things happened. If you have any interest in who I really am please start at the beginning of this playlist: http://savethecats.org/
I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story. My hope is that others will recognize themselves in my words and have the strength to do what is right for themselves and our shared planet.
