2018 Wrap Up, with Deputy PM Michael McCormack and Patrick Hill

Listen Later

Helen speaks with Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Michael McCormack about his background and the life experiences that influenced his step into politics, as well as why he is so passionate about regional Australia. Recorded after the 2018 AGM in Alice Springs of the Outback Highway Development Council, the conversation also covers the importance of better connectivity (of road, rail and telecommunications) for delivering services and support to regional communities.
Next, Helen speaks with Chair of the Outback Highway Development Council, Patrick Hill about the work that has been done in 2018 and the future works people can expect to see in 2019. They cover the sections of the road that have been sealed so far, and what's left to do in sealing the entire Outback Way.
Finally, Helen touches on the calendar of events for the first half of 2019 at locations along the Outback Way, for all of you planning your trip for 2019 over the Christmas holidays and into January. There is enormous amounts of fun to be had throughout the year across several states so no matter what part of the Outback Way your trip covers, there will be something for you to see and do.
