2019.01.06 - EP Brings Europe Home to the Citizens

Our colleagues present the internet site which was launched mid-November to show the concrete benefits of Europe for the citizen. Sarah explains the challenge it was for the research service staff to reach out to citizens in their everyday life, in their profession (fishermen, part time workers, cycling to work, …), hobbies (a surfer may be interested in the quality of water!), use of the internet, passenger rights, etc… beyond better known populations such as Erasmus students, farmers, consumers. The rule was to avoid jargon and use direct language in the one-pagers that are now available (almost 2000).
Alison reminds us that the platform is fully multilingual, making full use of the translators’ linguistic and cultural understanding of things.
Part of the effort that the institutions are making to raise awareness of the next elections in May 2019.
