From arriving in Australia as a young boy not knowing a single word of English after fleeing two brutal civil wars in Sudan and Ethiopia to Shane Jacobsen hitting the Australia’s Got Talent Golden Buzzer on his stand-up comedy routine, Emo has had one hell of a journey. Emo shares his story of how, from such trauma and adversity as a child, he found his voice through comedy and then took that voice across the globe, playing all the world’s big comedy festivals, and most recently to national prominence in the prime-time spotlight.  He recounts the harsh realities, the prejudices, the fear, and the genuine kindness and caring he has experienced growing up as an African Australian in a country still coming to terms with its own national identity and what it means to be an Aussie.
