I'm Peter Serefine and this is the Liberty Minute for Wednesday, day 640 of 15 days to flatten the curve.

Senate Democrats voted to raise the debt ceiling yesterday.  It was raised by $2.5 trillion through 2023.  No Republicans voted for this and Republicans will blame the Democrats, however, that is not entirely true.

Republicans had filibustered the first attempt a while back. That was followed by some shady backroom deal between the leadership of the two parties.  The deal allowed the debt ceiling to be raised by a simple majority vote.  Republicans will put the blame entirely on Democrats but do not be fooled.  Without the Republicans giving in on some deal that we will probably never know the details of, it could not have happened.  Republicans caved and your wallet will feel the repercussions.
