Immense pressure surrounds us to represent who we are, what we do, and quite frankly, what we are worth based on a narrow set of societal norms. We learn to code-speak. And... we learn to 'code-listen,' assessing who each other are by those signaling terms that tell us this person is credible, successful, like me, or simply valuable. How do we challenge these invisible peer-pressured guardrails on our worth and value? How do we know who we are--and then represent that honestly and authentically to others? How do we hear and accept when others genuinely show us who they are without this code-speak? Can we learn to distinguish authentic personhood and give it the credibility and respect we all deserve? This is our collective challenge, and our opportunity!
