It was rather exciting and meaningful to see Japan and South Korea during the 2022 World Cup. Both teams demonstrated how modern sports are elevating the social status, as well as the economic interests. Dr. Layne Vandenberg joined the Department of European & International Studies, with an affiliation with the Lau China Institute, in 2018. Layne is currently part of the King’s and University of Hong Kong joint PhD program, for which she focuses on international football politics and institutions.
