We have gun rules changing all over.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
The Supreme Court said New York's arbitrary discretion over concealed carry permits is unconstitutional.
This might mean that more states will become shall-issue states, but we shouldn't jump the gun just yet. The may-issue states could just pass specific laws restricting who can get a concealed carry permit, removing the decision-making process from the issuing authority.
On the same day, ten Senate Republicans joined the Democrats in passing new gun laws. Some of the new rules are actually common sense. For example, if an 18-year-old wants to buy a gun, then maybe their juvenile record is relevant.
However, I don't like the idea of federal money helping states with so-called red flag laws. I just don't see how due process and red flag confiscation can coexist.
