Depends on where you draw the line for the end…

What is “fair“?

A reminder that how we look at things and how God look at things are completely different.

Act 12:1 (ESV) About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church.

From a human perspective this is NOT good… But…

Act 12:2 (ESV) He killed James the brother of John with the sword,

James was taken out by Herod with little commentary by the author of Acts. Is basically a footnote to the rest of the story. Is this a tragedy? This is really his exit to heaven!

Act 12:3 (ESV) and when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. This was during the days of Unleavened Bread.

Is this a tragedy or is this just part of the adventure God is taking us on?

Act 12:4 (ESV) And when he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people.

“Bad guys” have the upper hand… Should we be sad? What should our course of action be?

29 And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness,

Act 12:5 (ESV) So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.
