The Apostle Paul is writing to a church in a metropolis called Corinth. It´s a bustling city, much like São Paulo, with rich culture and diversity. The church was birthed out of his evangelistic efforts found in Acts 18-19. There we find God encouraging Paul to not be afraid and to keep preaching, despite persecution. Now, starting out his letter, Paul passes on that encouragement to the believers in that church, reminding them that everything great and the gifts each one has, is because of Jesus, who is faithful and will return. All believers will have His righteousness - not because of our works, but because of Jesus. Pr.
