ABOUT MONIQUE

Monique is a long-time registered Republican running for House District 66 to provide real solutions and real changes. She was born and raised in Louisiana. She is a Conservative. She is a Christian. She is Pro-Life and Pro-Business. She supports the Second Amendment rights to keep and bear Arms. She supports shrinking the size of government. She supports lower taxes. She supports school choice. She supports making Louisiana a more business-friendly state. 

Monique’s experience in state-level executive and legislative branches gives her the knowledge, skills, and abilities to bring to the surface core issues and implement real changes that will have immediate impact.

Monique Appeaning served as a legislative fiscal analyst and special projects coordinator for the Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office, overall staff vice chair of the NCSL Standing Committee, and was a member of the following NCSL committees: Legislative Staff; Executive Committee Task Force on Cybersecurity; Budgets and Revenue; Law, Criminal Justice and Public Safety. 

With more than 25 years of public service, Monique has worked in both the executive and legislative branches– which has provided her a unique perspective on governmental operations and financial management. 

As a presenter in NCSL's work, the organization benefited from Monique's knowledge of fiscal issues as they impact cybersecurity and criminal justice. She most recently co-authored the NCSL Cybersecurity Task Force's "Budgeting for Cybersecurity" report and assisted in editing the organization's most recent work product on cybersecurity governance. 

Monique is the daughter of a Vietnam veteran and the granddaughter of a World War II veteran. She holds a master's degree in public administration from Southern University A&M College.
