On today’s episode of the Lax Lounge me and Nick recap the 2022-2023 Cabrini lacrosse season as our NCAA tournament run came to an end over the weekend. We breakdown everything from when we first got to campus, preseason lift tests, fall ball, and of course every facet of our spring season. This was definitely a year with a lot of ups and downs, fun moments, awesome memories, and it finished off with a tough goodbye to our graduating seniors in the locker room. After all of that we end with a draft of the best college mascots that you’re not going to wanna miss. This was a fun talk for us as we close the book on our 2023 lacrosse season and puts us in a good headspace as we begin preparations for next season. Intro 0:00-1:03
Nick and Fridge open up the conversation wondering what our fanbase should be called, we then begin a full year recap starting from the moment that we got on campus in August, our lift tests before the first day of practice and getting done dirty on our pull up reps, our fall ball scrimmages in Ocean City and the results from that weekend 1:03-14:03
Our first meeting in the winter before practice and the structure of our first few weeks of practice, Fridge’s favorite one-off drill and an iconic Lenny moment, getting through preseason as sophomores compared to our experience freshman year, our two preseason scrimmages and the surprising results 14:03-26:43
Opening up the season against Haverford with a big win, getting shutout by Lynchburg in the first half, spring break activities (in February?), stuff hits the fan against Dickinson and the rise of Connor Herraiz, finally getting back on track against Hampden-Sydney, our non-conference home stand getting some good wins under out belt 26:43-38:34
Playing Tufts for the first time in program history and seeing firsthand how talented they are, making a mid year adjustment to our team’s culture and bouncing back strong, bringing the juice against Eastern and Fridge trying to be a little too much like Tufts, opening up conference play against Marywood and Fridge getting to score his first goal of the season (and redemption on his BTB), Fridge pops off against Neumann and Mando gets his first goal against Centenary 38:34-57:40
The long bus ride up to Boston for the NCAA tournament, Sam Kirk being one of the funniest people on the planet, getting to Tufts for practice and being disappointed by their field, not your average joes being unbelievably average, Saturday’s game against York and finding out that we were suiting up, a good first quarter and having an iconic moment on the sideline, falling short and the postgame reaction to our season ending, saying goodbye to graduating seniors and our favorite moments from the 2023 season 57:40-1:28.26
Best college mascots draft 1:28.26-1:46.46
