I'm Gracie Folkins, today is February 15th, 2024, and you are listening to Hack News Daily.

In today's cyber news, the PlayDapp gaming platform experienced a major security issue when an unauthorized person created 1.79 billion PLA tokens. This happened because they got hold of a private key they shouldn't have. The company has stopped all transactions and asked exchanges to block the hacker's wallets to fix the problem.

Meanwhile, Zenlayer, a company that handles lots of internet data, accidentally left a huge amount of information unprotected online. This mistake exposed 380 million records, but the good news is that the problem was fixed after a cybersecurity expert found it and told the company.

Over in Germany, VARTA AG, known for making batteries, was hit by a cyberattack that messed up their computer systems and stopped production in five of their factories. They're working hard to get everything running smoothly again and make sure all their data is safe.

Prudential Financial had a scare on February 4, 2024, when someone got into their systems without permission. They're still looking into it, but so far, it seems like no customer data was taken. They're working with the police and cybersecurity experts to keep everything secure.

Zoom just fixed a really bad flaw in their Windows software that could have let hackers take over. It was one of seven problems they found and fixed, so if you use Zoom, make sure you've updated it!

Microsoft Outlook had a bug that could let hackers steal your login details just by tricking you into clicking a link. Microsoft has fixed this, so make sure your software is up to date.

In Romania, over 100 hospitals were attacked with ransomware through a healthcare management system. The national cybersecurity agency is helping them deal with this without paying the ransom.

The CL0P ransomware group used some sneaky tricks to attack companies last year, and they might have made up to $100 million even though fewer victims are paying ransoms these days. It's a reminder that everyone needs to be careful and protect their computers and data.

That's just a glimpse of what's happening in the world of cybersecurity. Attacks are getting more sophisticated, and everyone from big companies to regular folks needs to stay alert and protect their information.
