An illustrious career that includes more than 28 years of coaching experience, Oscar Roverato joined the UNC Pembroke athletics department as its interim swimming & diving head coach in August 2018. Roverato comes to Pembroke with an impressive foundation of success in the swimming pool. He founded the USA Swimming-certified Fayetteville Aquatic Swim Team in 2005 and has served as both owner and head coach of that organization for the last 13 years. His swimming & diving background also includes a three-year stint as both coach and aquatic director for the Fayetteville YMCA, as well as a two-year stay as the aquatic’s instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College.

FON DOCKERY is now a Gun Safety Advocate, after his family suffered a tragic loss.
Nearly two years after eight-year-old Jenesis Dockery died from a gunshot caused by her babysitter’s son, her family is suing to hold his family responsible for her death. Civil rights attorneys Harry Daniels and Chimeaka White joined members of Dockery’s family and their supporters outside the Cumberland County Courthouse in Fayetteville to announce the wrongful death lawsuit Tuesday morning. The lawsuit accuses Chrystle Michael and Thomas Michael, the mother and grandfather of the 11-year-old boy who caused the gun to be fired, of negligence leading to the fatal shooting in 2023.

Lou Olivera is currently a District Court Judge in Cumberland County, NC, having been elected in November 2012. He is the first Hispanic elected Judge in North Carolina history. 
He also presides over the Cumberland County Veterans Treatment Court since its inception and is the only combat Veteran Judge, which also serves the nation's largest combat community including Ft. Bragg, NC.

For the 15th time in its history… The number one NCAA Division III golf team makes its home at Methodist University in Fayetteville.
Methodist was in 19th place after the first round… but clawed its way back for the largest comeback in program history at the 2025 NCAA DIII Men's Golf National Championships. MU Golf Coach Steve Conley and Gilbert connected with a great golfing stories, and some hoops too.
