On this day after Easter Sunday, we release the second episode in our five part Easter Special. Today’s episode describes the events beginning with the Last Supper up to and through Jesus’ arrest from the perspective of the apostle John.

 

After the Last Supper, Jesus and His disciples, including John, went to the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus, feeling immense sorrow, asked Peter, James, and John to stay awake and pray with Him but found them asleep despite His deep turmoil and repeated requests for vigilance. This event deeply affected John, who felt a mix of confusion, fear, and guilt as he observed Jesus' anguish and subsequent betrayal by Judas, leading to Jesus' arrest.

 

John followed Jesus to the high priest's house, witnessing the mockery of a trial where Jesus faced false accusations and injustice, leading to His condemnation. The narrative continued with Jesus being presented to Pontius Pilate, who, despite finding no guilt in Jesus, succumbed to the crowd's demand for crucifixion after a futile attempt to pass the responsibility to Herod Antipas.

 

Throughout these events, John reflected on the stark contrast between Jesus' peaceful dignity and the chaotic injustice of His trials and crucifixion, culminating in a profound sense of loss and the dawning realization of Jesus' sacrificial love and divine purpose.
