[2024 REPOST] Chinese New Year - "Drinking Alone Under The Moon"

I take a bottle of wine,

in the bowers where no companion's mine.

Raising a cup to the Moon;

that's two of us,

and my shadow joins soon!

We companions are always three:

my shadow,

the Moon,

and simply me.

I sing, the Moon encourages me;

I dance, my shadow imitates me.

This lonesomeness I've always known,

in the bowers where this life turns cold.

When tonight our wine is done,

we should surely part ways one by one;

sojourning without a care,

my shadow,

the Moon,

and simply me.

My thoughts and memories on Chinese New Year.

I have experienced many Chinese New Years, but i cannot remember the time it actually felt real and authentic to me. What i mean is I've never experienced a heartfelt satisfying Chinese New Year, away from the shallow festivities and rituals (done for show, and over-commercialized).

Oh well. Better luck next year.
