Today I would like to share another Japanese proverb with you. In English, there's an expression that says "There's no use crying over spilt milk.", used in situations when there's nothing that can be done about something that has already happened. There is a similar expression in Japanese but instead of "milk", the word used is "water", and there's no crying involved. Interesting, right?

英語で既に起こったことを嘆いても無駄だという場合には、「こぼれたミルクを見て泣いても無駄だ」と言います。日本語でも同じ表現がありますが、「ミルク」ではなく、「水」を使って「泣く」という言葉も使いません。興味深いでしょう?
