Parents, your kids never grow out of your unique voice to encourage them. As children, you grow out of the responsibility to obey but you never outgrow the responsibility to honor.

Passages: 2 Samuel 13:38-39; 14:1-24; NT verses for principles (Eph 6:1-4)

Parents: David can see how he would have instructed anyone else to make things right with their kids, but couldn’t see it for Absalom without an outside perspective

Children: Absalom as we will see as the story progresses, becomes bitter in the waiting; his heart was turned against his father David rather than drawn closer toward him
