Artist Jake Lamerton talks about the depopulation taking place in his work, painting the air between body and object, the value of forgetting in his process, and more.
Jake Lamerton (b.1994, Canterbury) lives and works in London.
His practice has been an investigation into Kent as a site of political, historical and autobiographical resonance. His recent work pulls away from the specificity of this landscape in order to address personal feeling through an abstracted language of signs and symbols.
Jake recently curated the group exhibition And the Eerie at the Handbag Factory, London, and he organises a monthly group critique through ASC Studios' Cleaver Street Projects.
In 2016, Jake graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art and is currently participating in the Turps Off-Site programme.
