Volunteering for the European Capital of Culture project – the experience of a lifetime

In this, 21st, podcast of the Veszprém Balaton Calling series we talk with Tímea Tóth, one of the longest serving young volunteers of the ECC 2023 project in the Veszprém-Balaton region about her personal motivations and her experiences. Coming from the small town of Négyfalu in Romania, Tímea joined the ECC 2023 staff in February after she was selected as one of the four international volunteers sponsored by the European Solidarity Corps. She has been tasked with meeting and guiding international, sometimes diplomatic, guests in and around Veszprém, and she has also been helping out with the event organizing work of the “Shinies” (Ragyogók), the community of local volunteers. In this podcast, she is sharing with us what she loves about volunteering, which her favorite pálinka is, and how she thinks the ECC year has changed cultural life in the Veszprém-Balaton region once and for all.
