21. Watching the Legend of Vox Machina Because We're Obsessed With D&D

Listen Later

This week, Natasha makes Jessica watch The Legend of Vox Machina which is the cartoon adaptation of the first Critical Role campaign. We dive deep into what works about this adaptation and what doesn't. We discuss what feels too D&D for a TV show, what the medium changes about the story, and how it changes our perception of the characters. We ask questions like: is a dragon really something no one has ever heard of before? Can you really just play a big dog in D&D? (Legitimate question. This is important for my next D&D character.) Can you be straight in D&D? And the age-old mystery of whether or not you need to seduce a woman who is already in bed with you. (I'm not saying it wouldn't be appreciated, it just seems like overkill.) Yes, this and more while we wait impatiently to find out if this 20-minute cartoon can make Jessica delve into the 4-hour episodes of Critical Role. You'll have to listen to find out.
