While all of us have had deep disappointments in life, and most of us have endured times of deep and prolonged grief, especially in the death of dear loved ones or friends, NONE of us can truly imagine the despair, the hopelessness, the deep agony of grief that the close friends of Jesus, and perhaps especially His earthly mother Mary, were feeling on Friday and Saturday of what we call Easter weekend. The horrificness of His crucifixion. Their certainty that Jesus was dead and buried.
