2.11. Trust and Memories in Oral History

Listen Later

It's the second season of the More and More Every Day Podcast. Join us every day for short (10 minute) episodes to talk all things oral history and challenge yourself with a daily oral history prompt.

Today's prompt: I’m going to give you a few options. Do one, do them all, it’s up to you.

  1. Take a look at Monika Vrzgulova’s article. What does it make you think of?
  2. Write down some ways you can build trust with the people you are interviewing, especially during raw moments in the conversation.
  3. Write down any “triggers” that might influence your ability to maintain your neutrality as an interviewer. Is there something a narrator might say that would make you recoil? Fearful? Uncomfortable?
