Hello my 'Walking with Jesus' friends all around the world. Here we are. . . Christmas Eve 2021 has arrived. I wonder what this evening was like for you when you were a child, and what will it be like this evening? You know the Bible story well, don't you? You can probably quote some of it by heart. But what happens when we put ourselves INTO the story? "Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world." (Luke 2:1) It doesn't matter where you live in the world, when the government issues a 'tax census' it's unwelcome news. It means the government wants more of your hard earned money. And probably they don't ask your permission to spend that money... and oh my can governments spend money right? So when Roman soldiers read this edict, Joseph started packing. This census would not be taken in Nazareth where Joseph and Mary lived.
