Michael Winterbottom’s 2002 music biopic about Tony Wilson and Factory Records subverts tropes just like it’s subject matter did, and Steve Coogan’s performance is an all-timer. we get into the music, the history, the muddy mini-dv cinematography by Robby Muller, and so much more. then, we finally have our boy Malcolm back for a juicy edition of Malcolm in the Middle (36:15). he regales us of tales from his parents’ house, revisiting teenage inspirations such as Donnie Darko and Heathers.
