Many of us struggle with "Utopian Idealism" - the mentality that we can control our lives in such a way that we create the perfect, never-changing environment of happiness, pleasure and perfection. If you have breath in your lungs, you know this is foolish. However, it doesn't stop us from sometimes spiraling back into that mindset. The Apostle James will help us navigate this with the following verse:

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4
