NEHEMIAH 2:17,18
Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work.
Now we see Nehemiah begin the process of examining the broken walls and burnt gates of Jerusalem as a preparatory plan to sell the vision of reconstruction to the various leadership stakeholders in Jerusalem. This is an important principle being played out. Regardless of how zealous and passionate we desire to carry out an assignment, if we cannot convince others to see the need to corporate and support what we've been assigned by heaven, the mandate might be delayed.
Strategy plays a significant part in the fulfillment of our prophetic mandate. It’s not enough to have the calling or vision to carry out a divine assignment, we also need to be highly strategic in the expression and fulfillment of our calling. The wisdom Nehemiah displayed points a critical concept in managing how to step towards the field of our assignment. In this session of our training, we see how Nehemiah approached and examined the broken walls and burnt gates of Jerusalem.
