Like the never ending battle to be good enough, the law is an unrelenting task master. Just when it seems nothing is ever enough, Jesus comes with righteousness sufficient to satisfy the law for us. The never-enough demands of holiness are met not by people who learn to be good or by a God who sets aside these rigid requirements, but by the perfect man, Jesus Christ. For this reason God’s people are moved to joy and gratitude. Jesus’ righteousness is more than enough to overcome our unrighteousness— and more. Jesus gives us the grace that is more than enough to lead us through forgiveness to eternal life.
